Opel sign Chris for a 2nd season of ERC in 2017!

Opel is aiming for a hat-trick in the Junior European Championship with three factory ADAM R2’s. Chris Ingram, Jari Huttunen and Tamara Molinaro compete with Europe’s top talents. Six prestigious races throughout Europe are waiting for Opel factory drivers.

With a strong trio, the Opel Rallye Junior Team is aiming for the hat-trick in the 2017 season – the third place in the Rally Junior European Championship (FIA ERC Junior) in a row. The three young rally drivers with different motor sport backgrounds want to compete with the strongest rally drivers of the continent in their factory Opel ADAM R2 .

The greatest international experience is the Englishman Chris Ingram. The 22-year-old from Manchester proved to be one of the hardest rivals of the Opel factory pilots in the FIA ERC Junior 2015 before he changed the camp for the following season. In the Opel ADAM R2, Ingram defeated his German colleague Griebel to the ERC3 (European 2WD) title but missed out on the Junior championship in a highly dramatic season final head-to-head. In the upcoming season the ambitious Briton has set a high goal – the title of the rally Junior European Championship. Like in the second half of the 2016 season, Ingram is in the cockpit of his ADAM R2 alongside fellow Brit, co-driver Elliott Edmondson (22, Milton Keynes).

“After two junior European championships in a row, the Opel Rallye Junior Team certainly has a favorite. But we are happy to accept this challenge “, says Opel Motorsport Director Jörg Schrott. “For us, our new team is a great mixture of different driving events, but also different characters. Chris has a lot of international experience in his youth, Jari has proved his enormous talent in the ADAC Opel Rally Cup and Tamara is still in the beginning Her rally career. It will be exciting to see what the three will make from their different starting positions. ”

Six highly demanding and entirely different rally rallies await the three Opel factory pilots and their strong competitors in the 2017 Junior European Championship. Gravel spectacles such as the start of the season in the Azores or the final in Latvia are also on the agenda as are the fast asphalt tests on Gran Canaria as well as in Poland, the Czech Republic and Italy. The three drivers of the Opel Rallye Junior Team are also scheduled for the start of the German FIA World Rally Championship in the context of the ADAC Rallye Deutschland from 17 to 20 August.
