ERC Junior Championship leader Chris Ingram stamped his authority with the best time in the category on the Qualifying Stage on the Kenotek Ypres Rally.Opel Rallye Junior Team driver Ingram was 21st fastest overall in the 4.79-kilometre stage in the village of Nieuwkerke with a time of 3m30.463s, despite being on the less-favoured hard compound tyres in wet and muddy conditions. That was 2.342 seconds quicker than his closest rival Diogo Gago on softs all-round.

Kristóf Klausz was an impressive third fastest in another Peugeot on his first ERC appearance of the season. Nikolay Gryazin, Łukasz Pieniążek and Joonas Tokee rounded out the top six, followed by Julius Tannert, debutant Callum Devine and Marijan Griebel.

Marco Cid suffered a puncture on the very first corner, while 18-year-old Catie Munnings eased herself back in after rolling in testing earlier in the week (then travelling across the Channel and back for an exam). Dominik Brož did not compete the stage, reported as off the road.

The quickest non-Juniors in the ERC3 standings were Belgian driver Polle Geusens, fourth quickest, and Hungary’s László Német, who was eighth.
