Under 27 European Rally Champion Chris Ingram and German based R5 team TOKSPORT WRT will compete in the 2018 FIA European Rally Championship.
It will be Chris’s debut season in a four wheel drive car, competing in Toksport WRT’s latest spec SKODA MOTORSPORT Fabia R5.
Chris Ingram commented – “I have been aiming to compete in the top tier of the European Rally Championship for a long time. Thanks to the €100,000 prize fund for winning the ERC Junior U27 title last year it has made that dream a possibility. There were many many discussions and options on the table so It has been an incredibly difficult task to choose the right one.
It has been an extremely busy winter and we have been in talks with many different manufacturers and teams. I met with the Toksport WRT team managers at their HQ near the Nurburgring and checked out the car’s and their facilities and must say It was very impressive. Toksport WRT share my strategy and ambition of winning the overall European Rally Championship title over the next two years so I’m confident they are a perfect fit for myself and my partners. I can’t wait to start working with the team in a few weeks at our pre-season test in Wales to prepare us for the first round of the ERC in the Azores.”
Serkan Duru – Toksport WRT Rally team manager commented – “We are excited to start working with Chris and to help him reach his potential in our Skoda R5 car. We have had our eye on him for a while having watched him win the Junior R2 category in the ERC so we are looking forward to seeing how he takes the step into our Skoda R5.”
