Dream WRC Debut! Young Brits make their mark with WRC2 Podium and Top 10 finish at Rally Turkey

WRC2 Debutants Chris Ingram and Ross Whittock have secured their career best rally finish at WRC Rally Turkey in Marmaris, finishing 9th overall and 3rd in WRC2 amongst the world’s best drivers.

Driving their 11 Degrees TOKSPORT WRT Skoda Fabia R5, the young British crew were leading the WRC2 category for 5 stages of the gruelling 350 kilometre event, which has been named the toughest and roughest world rally for a decade by the majority of the World Rally Championship competitors and teams.

The Brit’s suffered a rear right puncture on the final stage of Leg 2 dropping them almost 2 minutes and from 1st down to 3rd behind Factory Skoda driver Jan Kopecky and Citroen driver Simone Tempestini.

“I can’t believe it, this result is a dream come true. Our strategy of taking it cautiously on the rougher and rocky sections has paid off and to get on the podium is an amazing feeling. It is only my 2nd gravel rally in the Skoda Fabia R5 and it was the most demanding rally I have ever done, in this heat and driving on those rough stages. But we enjoyed every minute and the car and our Michelin tyres have been incredibly strong. Massive thanks to the team and all of my sponsors.”

Chris was also first car on the road on the final “Power Stage” of the rally, and enjoyed 5 minutes of Live global TV coverage on his way to the podium.
