CHRIS INGRAM CROWNED THE 2017 UNDER 27 EUROPEAN RALLY CHAMPION

Young Brit Chris Ingram has become 2x 2-wheel drive European Rally Champion and the 2017 FIA Under 27’s European Rally Champion in Latvia

The 23 year old Opel Motorsport works driver takes his 3rd victory of the season from 6 rounds, at the final Rally Liepaja in Latvia securing a hat-trick of titles for Opel.

Ingram, co-driven by fellow MSA Academy backed co-driver Ross Whittock, wins the biggest prize in rallying. A €100,000 career progression fund which will enable the Brit to take the step to 4-wheel-drive cars for the 2018 European Rally Championship.

FIA ERC organisers also award Chris with the prestigious Colin McRae Flat Out Trophy for his “never give up” attitude over the past three seasons.

“It is difficult to put the emotions into words! The best moment of my life!”

“It has been an incredibly hard fought season with such highs and lows, and what an intense battle with my strong team-mate Jari Huttunen. We won three rounds and the other guys one each so to come out on top after a few years trying is the best feeling ever and a huge relief from the hard-work and sacrifice”

“I would like to say a huge thanks to Opel Motorsport for having the belief in me over the last 2 years, It has been an amazing journey, thanks to Ross for guiding me to the title in the superb ADAM R2, and of course a huge thanks to my personal sponsors Andrews Sykes, 11 Degrees, CarFinance247 and Express Solicitors for helping make it possible. I would also like to thank every single person who has helped me in my career so far and to all of our supporters on the stages and on social media”
