Barum Zlin

Britain’s leading driver in the European Rally Championship – Chris Ingram, says he is ready to take on the notorious Barum Czech Rally Zlin. The 22 year old from Manchester will be once again joined by English co-driver Elliott Edmondson for the penultimate ERC Junior round starting on the 26th August.

Over 100,000 spectators are expected to attend the event which starts with the popular Zlin City stage on Friday night and heads out into the stunning Czech countryside totalling 230 gruelling competitive-kilometres over the three days of competition.

The Czech Rally (Round 5) will be a crucial event for Ingram’s title hopes as the young Opel works driver currently leads team-mate Marijan Griebel by 11 points in the Junior ERC after four consecutive podium finishes, and also leads ERC3 (Two wheel drive championship) by 10 points against some of the best rally drivers in Europe.

Ingram commented- “It has been an incredible season so far finishing on the podium of every ERC round.

I would like to thank my team Opel Motorsport for providing me with an immaculate car after a quick turn around since Germany, and I hope to repay them here by reaching the finish line with another great result.

It is of course adds a little bit of pressure to have lead the championship for quite a while, but I am definitely enjoying that feeling.

I am starting here in Barum thanks to many people whom I’d like to sincerely thank. Many people have supported me, including my partners Opel Motorsport, Andrews Sykes, Express Solicitors, RMS Property Management, DSG Auto Contracts, Clarity Wealth and Legend Fires.

My thoughts are with my former co-driver Gabin Moreau and his driver Stéphane Lefebvre who were both injured at last weeks WRC Deutschland, I’ve been inspired by their determination for this weekend.”
