Andrews Extend Rally Involvement

Chris Ingram has secured support from the UK’s leading specialist hire company – Andrews Sykes, for the remainder of the 2016 European Rally Championship season. The 22-year-old from Manchester is currently the leading British driver and Junior competitor in the popular series which is covered by Eurosport TV to 318 million people annually.

The Andrews name returned to Motorsport at April’s Circuit of Ireland Rally, as the iconic ‘Andrews Heat For Hire’ logo was displayed on the front of Chris Ingram’s works Opel Adam R2, 25 years after their record-breaking sponsorship of Russell Brookes’ Opel rally cars. Rally fans were able to reminisce of those great memories at events and on social media, reviving the passion for the rally partnership – a truly fantastic response which has pushed the Andrews Sykes name globally on social media.

13555764_979373042183784_980175200_oDespite the 2016 season marking Ingram’s first season as an Opel rally driver, the young Brit has taken a sensational 11-point lead in the championship after a string of consistent podium finishes in Northern Ireland, the Azores, Belgium and Estonia. Successfully mastering the challenging terrain and weather conditions that each rally has thrown at him in the small but strong Adam R2 which goes from 0-60 miles per hour in just 3 seconds.

The next race for the Brit will be the World Rally of Germany (18-21 August), which will mark his first foreign World Rally Championship start. Having won his class at the World Rally of Great Britain twice and starting at first Brit, he will be aiming to fill the trophy cabinet. Over 200,000 spectators are expected to attend the event which starts in the historical town of Trier and heads out towards the infamous vineyard stages around the Mosel valley. BT Sport and Channel 4 will cover the 130 teams racing the 306 gruelling competitive-kilometres over three days.

Chris Ingram commented;

“It has been a privilege to fly the flag for Andrews Sykes so far this season, and their past success with UK rally driving legend Russell Brookes has most definitely spurred me on to achieve 6 podiums from 6 starts. I would like to thank everyone at Andrews Sykes for their support and would not be in the position of representing the UK in the European championship without our partnership.

We are focused on our next rally – the World Rally of Germany. I will be pushing for victory but I must keep the car in one piece as we will head directly to the European championships in the Czech Republic which starts the weekend after! The Czech Rally promises to be a crucial round for our title hopes.”
